Sanwo-Olu invites investors to boost MSMEs for global market access

Governor Sanwo-Olu has called upon local and international investors to collaborate with Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Lagos to enhance their products and services, breaking into the African Continental Free Trade Area and the global market.

The governor emphasized that this collaboration would ensure a reasonable return on investment for small businesses in Lagos and Nigeria.

During the closing ceremony of the 8th Lagos MSMEs Exclusive Trade Fair at Y-Arena Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the fair’s role as a marketing platform for promoting entrepreneurs’ products and services in the state at no cost.

Represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Mrs Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, the governor acknowledged the MSME sector’s contribution to a viable economy and expressed the state’s commitment to supporting various products and services made in Lagos through this sector.

Addressing the significance of MSMEs in creating employment, generating income, improving living standards, and fostering investment opportunities, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged investors to seize opportunities in the sector to boost the state’s economy.

He emphasized the theme of the trade fair, “Empowering MSMEs for AfCFTA Excellence through Sustainable Economic Growth,” aligning with the state’s developmental agenda.

Throughout the event, which lasted five days, the fair positively impacted the local economy of the Lagos Division, generating employment and enhancing the standard of living through engagements with entrepreneurs, vendors, artisans, and various service providers.

Governor Sanwo-Olu pledged to sustain the tradition of the MSMEs Exclusive Trade Fair, develop a compendium of Lagos MSMEs, and continue efforts to attract domestic and foreign direct investments through MSMEs.

Exhibitors praised the governor for fostering an inclusive government that brings together MSMEs, and attendees commended Lagos State for allowing exhibitors to display their products free of charge for six days at the venue.
