On the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at the Conoil filling station area, three individuals lost their lives, and seven others sustained injuries following a collision between a Toyota Hiace bus (registration number RLG 846 XA) and a trailer (marked JJN 32 YX) on Saturday evening.
The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, officially confirmed the occurrence in a statement released on Sunday in Abeokuta.

According to Okpe, the accident transpired at approximately 9:23 p.m. and was attributed to the bus driver’s excessive speed, resulting in a loss of control.
The FRSC spokesperson disclosed that a total of 18 individuals, including 16 men and 2 women, were involved in the collision.
In the official statement, Okpe conveyed, “The crash occurred at about 2123 hrs this night with a total of 18 persons involved (16 male adults and two female adults).
Seven persons were injured, and three were recorded dead from the crash.”
The vehicles involved were identified as a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number RLG846XA and a trailer with registration number JJN32YX.
The injured victims were promptly transported to Idera Hospital for medical attention, while the deceased were taken to the same hospital’s morgue in Sagamu.
CC Anthony Uga, the Sector Commander of FRSC Ogun Sector Command, emphasized the importance of caution during this period of heightened vehicular movement and reduced visibility due to weather conditions.
