The Minister of State for Defence, Muhammed Bello, has announced plans to strengthen Nigeria’s military bilateral relations with the United States of America, aiming to bolster the ongoing fight against terrorism and various organized crimes in the country.
A statement from the minister’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, revealed that this decision was reached during Bello’s visit to the Capitol in Washington, where he met with US Congresswoman Betty McCollum.

Highlighting the importance of the existing bilateral ties between Nigeria and the US, Minister Bello reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to eradicating terrorism through collaborative efforts.
In response, Betty McCollum, currently leading the United States House Committee on Appropriation for Defence, affirmed the United States’ dedication to supporting Nigeria in combating terrorism and addressing security threats.
The support is expected to involve intelligence sharing, training, and the production of military hardware.
