Ondo State Police Command has apprehended two individuals in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a newborn baby and the accompanying placenta in Isua, the administrative center of Akoko South-West Local Government.
The arrested suspects have been identified as 40-year-old herbalist Akinjise Ifeoluwa and the 66-year-old grandmother of the missing baby, Oyewole Margaret, as confirmed by Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer.

According to Odunlami, the baby and placenta went missing during a period when the mother was unconscious after giving birth.
The police statement reported a case of suspected murder that was filed on December 1, 2023.
Oyewale Oluwaseun, the complainant, raised concerns about his sister, who had recently given birth but failed to provide a satisfactory account of the baby’s whereabouts.
Further investigations revealed that the mother, Oyewale Oluwaseun, entrusted the care of her newborn to a native doctor and self-proclaimed prophet, Akinjise Ifeoluwa.
The mother claimed that Ifeoluwa had instructed her to kill the baby.
During the delivery, the mother and Akinjise maintained constant communication through the phone.
The prophet allegedly ordered the grandmother to block the child’s nostrils, intending for the baby to die.
The prophet argued that the baby’s survival would bring misfortune, as he accused the mother of infidelity during her pregnancy.

Upon regaining strength, the mother was informed by her own mother that the baby had died, and both the baby and placenta had been buried.
However, when investigators visited the purported burial site, neither the baby nor the placenta was found, raising further questions about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the incident.
