Iran executed a man on Saturday, carrying out a death sentence that was imposed after he was found guilty of collaborating with Israel’s intelligence services, according to official statements from the judiciary.
The execution took place in Zahedan prison in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan.
The individual, whose identity was not disclosed, faced charges of “intelligence cooperation and espionage for the benefit of the hostile Zionist regime (Israel).”

He was convicted of “collecting and providing classified information to the Mossad spy service with the aim of disrupting public order.”
The specific details regarding the man’s arrest and trial were not immediately provided.
Iran has previously announced the arrests of individuals accused of being agents for foreign countries, particularly Israel, its regional adversary.
In December 2022, Iran executed four individuals convicted of collaborating with Israel’s intelligence services.
The ongoing tension between Iran and Israel is rooted in Iran’s non-recognition of Israel, leading to a prolonged shadow war between the two nations.
Tehran accuses Israel of carrying out sabotage attacks and assassinations targeting its nuclear program.
Meanwhile, the United States and Israel allege that Iran employs drones and missiles to attack U.S. forces and ships linked to Israel in the Gulf region.

Human rights groups, including Amnesty International, have raised concerns about Iran’s high execution rates.
According to a November report from the Iran Human Rights group based in Norway, Iran executed over 600 people in the current year, marking the highest figure in eight years.
The preferred method of execution in Iran is hanging.
