Carter Efe recently shared insights into his journey to stardom, disclosing that he was once a tailor before achieving fame.
In an appearance on the Hip TV program “Trending,” hosted by reality star KimOprah, the ‘Machala’ crooner highlighted that his comedic talent has been inherent since childhood.
Efe revealed, “I have been funny right from birth. I’ve been doing stand-up comedy since I was in school. During break time, I would just stand in front of the class and start making people laugh.”

Expressing his early passion for art, Efe disclosed that he had worked as a London tailor, known as ‘Obioma,’ before venturing into skit making.
Despite facing challenges, including lying to his boss about illness to shoot skits and facing punishment upon returning, Efe remained determined to pursue his creative interests.
He narrated a turning point in his career when Broda Shaggi posted a challenge on Instagram. Efe participated and emerged as the winner, receiving a PS5 as a prize.
Inspired by this, he decided to relocate to Lagos, selling the PS5 for N300,000 to fund his skit-making endeavors.

Recalling the early days in Lagos, Efe said, “I was using the N300,000 for transport fares to go to locations to shoot my skit. I was staying with one of my friends then.”
His journey reflects the resilience and passion that fueled his transition from being a tailor to a popular figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
