One electrocuted, two others arrested for cable theft in Ogun state

The Ogun State Police Command has affirmed the electrocution incident of an unidentified individual in the Day Waterman area near Kobape in the state.

According to the police, the person in question was attempting to cut a cable belonging to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company when the tragedy occurred.

The matter was reported to the police by an IBEDC staff member at the Owode Egba branch.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased’s body has been transported to the Ogun State Teaching Hospital Sagamu for autopsy.

Two casual staff members from the Quantum Packaging Company, Igbesa, were apprehended for allegedly stealing a cable suspected to be owned by the company.

The suspects were reportedly caught by the Chief Security Officer of the company, Okoi Akilepo, during a foot patrol and subsequently handed over to the police, where they confessed to the crime.
