Nigerian troops rescues 9 kidnap victims in Kaduna

Troops from the 1 Division Nigerian Army successfully rescued nine individuals who had been kidnapped in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army, the troops were conducting a routine patrol in the Kanzaure region when they received credible intelligence about the abduction of 11 civilians by bandits in Anguwan Maharba and Dandami villages.

Acting swiftly, the troops, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force, laid an ambush at the bandits’ crossing point on December 8, 2023.

The encounter resulted in the bandits withdrawing with gunshot wounds, and the troops successfully rescued nine victims while tragically, two others had already been killed by the bandits.

The recovered items included an AK 47 rifle, an AK 47 rifle magazine, and a locally made weapon.

Major General Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division NA and Force Commander of Operation WHIRL, commended the troops for their resilience and emphasized the importance of citizens providing credible intelligence to support ongoing security efforts in Kaduna State.
