Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star, Andre Braugher, is dead

American television star Andre Braugher has passed away at the age of 61, as reported by People Magazine. The actor’s representative stated that Braugher succumbed to a brief illness on Monday.

Renowned for his role as police officer Captain Raymond Holt in the comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Braugher had earlier gained acclaim as police detective Frank Pemberton in the crime series “Homicide: Life on the Street,” earning him his first Emmy award for Outstanding Lead Actor in 1998.

In addition to his television work, Braugher made notable appearances in various films such as “City of Angels,” “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” “Salt,” and “Poseidon.”

Tributes have begun pouring in from co-stars and colleagues following the news of his passing.

Terry Crews, who also starred in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” expressed his disbelief and gratitude for having known Braugher, acknowledging his wisdom, advice, kindness, and friendship.

The producers of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” NBC, and Universal Television released a joint statement praising Braugher’s performances, noting that his contributions would continue to inspire future generations.

Andre Braugher is survived by his wife, Ami Brabson, and their three children, John Wesley Braugher, Michael Braugher, and Isaiah Braugher.
