We’ll begin to prioritise food security in Lagos – Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has affirmed his commitment to prioritizing food security as a means to reduce the cost of food items within the state.

The assurance was given during the 2023 Lagos Food Festival held at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, with the theme for the year being “A Fusion of Flavours.”

Represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the governor emphasized that his administration remains dedicated to the development of the agricultural industry.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the various initiatives in place, stressing that agriculture plays a prominent role in the state’s THEMES Agenda.

Expressing satisfaction with the substantial turnout at the event, the governor remarked that it reflected the true spirit of Lagos.

The Lagos Food Festival, according to Sanwo-Olu, serves as a platform to exhibit prosperity, resourcefulness, innovation, and the vibrant spirit of Lagos, particularly among the youth.

Governor Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the festival’s role in providing a space for Small and Medium Enterprises in the agriculture and food sector to showcase their products, foster networking, and promote their businesses.

He commended the young participants for their talents and entrepreneurial spirit, emphasizing the importance of adding value and achieving success through innovation.

In his words, “That is what I see here, prosperity, ingenuity, innovation, and the spirit of Lagos.”

The governor emphasized the need for society to support and encourage young entrepreneurs who are actively contributing to the growth of the agricultural and food industry in Lagos State.
