Dogs fatally attack and kill 50-year-old Greek woman

A tragic incident unfolded in the village of Neochorouda, Greece, resulting in the death of a 50-year-old Greek woman who was attacked by three shepherd dogs in her garden.

The incident was reported by Sky News on Monday.

According to information from police sources, the dogs managed to escape through a hole in their owner’s fence, located approximately 80 meters away.

They rushed to the woman’s garden where she was engaged in gardening activities.

A man, described by the police as deaf-mute, was assisting the woman but was at a distance when the attack occurred, rendering him unable to hear her screams.

The woman sustained severe injuries and was found bleeding profusely. Emergency workers, arriving with an ambulance, confirmed her death at the scene.

According to reports from Greek state broadcaster ERT, the woman’s two sons, aged 17 and 18, heard their mother’s cries but were unable to intervene in time.

The woman had lived in the area for two decades and was reportedly a candidate in local elections, as per Greek newspaper Ta Nea.

Her ex-husband, speaking to ERT, described the dogs as “huge, wild ones” and expressed that they had escaped and posed a threat on multiple occasions in the past.

The 37-year-old owner of the dogs has been apprehended and is scheduled to face a prosecutor on Monday morning.

The dogs, currently held in a kennel, are slated to be euthanized due to the severity of the incident.
