Man accused of killing his mother and sister and burying them in Enugu

Somadina Orji, a man hailing from Igboariam in Anambra State, reportedly murdered his mother, Mrs. Charity Orji, and his sister, Miss Ukamaka Orji, burying them in a shallow grave at their residence in Umuagu Inyi, Oji River Local Government area of Enugu State.

The distressing event came to light when Somadina’s younger sister had been missing for several weeks.

A confrontation between Somadina and his younger brother escalated, leading to a violent outburst.

In the course of the altercation, Somadina allegedly took the life of his hardworking mother, who had intervened to protect the younger brother from harm.

He purportedly buried her in a shallow grave within their compound.

Upon the younger son’s return and the discovery of his mother’s absence, an alarm was raised, prompting villagers to gather.

Following interrogation, Somadina confessed to the gruesome act. A video circulating online captures the chilling moment when Somadina excavates his mother’s body from the shallow grave, revealing a disturbing scene of fresh blood.

The sister’s remains were also unearthed, although they had decomposed, with her bones collected in a blue plastic bag.

Villagers in the video describe the mother as a hardworking woman who sold fufu to support her family, while expressing shock at Somadina’s alleged drug addiction.

Outraged villagers can be heard in the video expressing a desire to bury Somadina in the same grave he used for his mother, contingent on the police’s approval.

Law enforcement was summoned to the scene, and the mother and sister’s remains were transferred to the mortuary.

The suspect, Somadina Orji, has been detained by the police as investigations into the gruesome crime continue.
