A 22-year-old student from Sheikh Kamaldeen Arabic School identified as Alfa Musa has taken his own life.
The student was discovered hanging in his room at Dagbenu compound in the Ogidi area of Ilorin on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
The spokesperson for the state Police Command, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, confirmed the unfortunate incident and revealed that an investigation has been initiated.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the deceased left behind a suicide note addressed to his parents.
The note expressed apologies and cited the reason for the drastic action as perceiving unanswered prayers and a preference for death over committing sin.
On the day of the incident, a friend attempted to visit Alfa Musa but found his room locked.
After multiple unsuccessful attempts to get a response, the door was forcibly opened, revealing the distressing scene of the young man hanging.
An empty paint container, believed to be the apparatus used in the tragic act, was discovered in his room.
A neighbor described the deceased, originally from Osun State, as a devout Muslim.

Meanwhile, a colleague posted a video from the funeral prayer, marking a somber farewell to the young student. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
