Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has revealed the reasons behind her decision to embrace Islam, shedding light on her conversion from Christianity.

The acclaimed actress, now known as Hajiah Amminah, shared insights into her choice during a recent interview with TVC, explaining that her conversion was motivated by her deep love for her husband, filmmaker Kazeem Adeoti, whom she married in 2022.

Aigbe emphasized the significance of love in her decision, stating, “I love my husband so much. I don’t think any woman would have gone through what I went through if it wasn’t for love.

I didn’t have to. I meant I’m comfortable; I have kids. So, it is because of love that I remarried.”

Expressing her affectionate and emotional nature, she elaborated on her decision to adopt Islam, saying, “I’m such a lover girl. I’m very emotional. I love love.

I just decided on my own to convert to Islam because I love my [Muslim] husband so much. When it comes to religion, I’m a very liberal person.

I love my husband so much, and he is a very religious person. So, I just felt that after COVID-19, I was already struggling with going to church, so I just decided to follow my husband’s religion.”
