In a joint announcement on Friday, the United States and Mexico have officially submitted a bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
This bid is poised to encounter stiff competition from contenders such as Brazil and a combined European bid featuring Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands.
If successful, the North American bid would continue the trend of hosting major international tournaments in the region.

The USA is already slated to host CONMEBOL’s Copa America next year and FIFA’s expanded Club World Cup in 2025, leading up to the co-hosting of the 2026 World Cup alongside Mexico and Canada.
U.S. Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone expressed the aspiration to replicate key elements from the successful 2026 men’s tournament.
She emphasized the unique position of the U.S. and Mexico to leverage existing venues, infrastructure, and protocols, providing a world-class experience for players and fans.
Cone highlighted the potential economic boost for women’s soccer and the inspirational message it could send to aspiring players worldwide.
The most recent edition of the Women’s World Cup took place in Australia and New Zealand in the previous year.

The USA has previously hosted the tournament in 1999 and 2003, and the last time it was held in North America was in 2015 when Canada served as the host nation.
With four World Cup victories, the USA stands as the most successful nation in women’s soccer.
