Comedian Ayodeji Richard Makun, popularly known as AY, has opened up about his apprehension in telling certain jokes, citing concerns over misinterpretation and hurtful reactions.
In a recent interview with media personality Toke Makinwa, AY discussed the aftermath of his public apology to singer Davido in October.
The comedian had apologized for jokes deemed insensitive, implying that Davido impregnated many women with his “small manhood” while AY had been trying with his “larger one” for over 13 years.

AY attributed the backlash to bloggers sensationalizing his jokes and taking them out of context. He expressed his vulnerability as a human, acknowledging that hurtful reactions affect him.
AY emphasized the role of timing and the tendency of bloggers to capitalize on sensational headlines without investigating or verifying the context.
Reflecting on the incident, AY stated, “It’s not that serious. This is only a simple joke. I’m even so scared to say it again so that I don’t get in trouble again.”
He highlighted the impact of misinterpretation on his personal life, especially when it involves sensitive topics.
