Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has received acclaim as an ‘Outstanding Georgia Citizen’ from the State of Georgia in the United States.

The ‘OBO’ singer was present at the State of Georgia General Assembly meeting on Friday, December 1, 2023, where he was formally acknowledged and presented with the honour.

Davido shared a video snippet from the meeting along with an image of his proclamation letter on his social media, expressing his gratitude, “This morning I attended the U.S State of Georgia General Assembly meeting with the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia State Senate to be recognized as an ‘Outstanding Georgia Citizen’… God is good.”

The letter, signed by Brad Raffensperger, Secretary of State of Georgia, conveyed the recognition and designated Davido as an ambassador for Georgia.

It stated, “May this Outstanding Citizen be afforded every courtesy as a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia in his travels to other states, to nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever he may hereafter travel or reside.

Davido holds citizenship in the State of Georgia by birth, having been born to Nigerian parents in Atlanta, the capital of the state.
