Ondo lawmakers plot to consider declaration of Aiyedatiwa as acting governor

The Ondo State House of Assembly is scheduled to convene a plenary session today to address the state’s political circumstances.

Reliable sources indicate that the lawmakers will deliberate on matters concerning the executive arm of the state government, contemplating the possible declaration of Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor, as the acting governor.

This decision stems from the prolonged absence of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who is currently recuperating at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, due to health issues.

While some lawmakers may not attend the session due to disagreements on the Aiyedatiwa matter, it is reported that the meeting has the approval of the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The source suggests that the agenda includes the potential declaration of Aiyedatiwa as the acting governor during today’s sitting.

When contacted, Mr. Olatunji Oshati, a lawmaker and Chairman of the House Committee on Information, confirmed the development.

However, he could not confirm whether Aiyedatiwa would be declared as the acting governor.

Oshati stated, “The House is going to sit on the matter and review the political situation today as directed by our national leaders. If it is likely to happen, you are invited as well.”
