The Federal Government has officially launched the Startup Support and Engagement Portal as a crucial step in implementing the Nigeria Startup Act.

Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, shared the announcement on Tuesday night, emphasizing the portal’s role in identifying and aggregating startups across the country.

In a tweet, Dr. Tijani stated, “We are pleased to announce the launch of the Startup Support and Engagement Portal, https://startup.gov.ng/, a key requirement for the implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act.

The startup portal will drive the identification and aggregation of Nigerian startups, venture capital companies, hubs, and innovation centres to facilitate engagement and support for ecosystem players.”

The minister highlighted that the portal’s introduction enables the government to initiate the setup of startup consultative forums.

These forums will play a pivotal role in selecting representatives to the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship, fostering discussions, and building consensus among ecosystem participants.

Tijani extended an invitation to all Nigerian startup venture capital companies, hubs, and innovation centers to register on the portal (https://startup.gov.ng/) and expressed eagerness to collaborate with industry stakeholders.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to fully implementing the Startup Act for the benefit of the innovation ecosystem.

Former Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari (Digital Transformation) and lead for the Nigeria Start Up Bill, Oswald Osaretin Guobadia, tweeted in support, noting, “The work is ahead.
