Elon Musk’s social media platform X has initiated legal action against the left-leaning advocacy group Media Matters for America, accusing them of manipulating data to tarnish the platform’s reputation.
X, previously known as Twitter, claims that Media Matters intentionally created false images to depict advertisers’ posts alongside neo-Nazi and white-nationalist content, aiming to drive advertisers away and harm X.

The lawsuit, filed in Texas, alleges malicious intent and seeks to counter the fallout from the watchdog’s report that prompted companies like Apple, Disney, IBM, and Comcast to pause ads on X.
Media Matters President Angelo Carusone maintains they will prevail in any legal action and accuses Musk of attempting to silence accurate reporting.
The controversy also led to Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton launching an investigation into Media Matters for potential fraudulent activity.
