The designated individuals are Yahya Sinwar, Mohammed Deif, Marwan Issa, Musa Dudin, Abdelbasit Hamza, and Nabil Chouman.
Both the UK and the US had previously classified Hamas as a terrorist organization.
The UK Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, emphasized their commitment to using all available tools to counter the activities of the terrorist organization, working collaboratively with allies to impede its operations.
The statement also reiterated the UK government’s support for “humanitarian pauses” to facilitate the delivery of life-saving aid to Gaza.
Meanwhile, ongoing fighting in Gaza, sparked by Hamas’s October 7 attack, continues, with Israel vowing to dismantle the Palestinian militant group.
The conflict has resulted in casualties on both sides, with over 1,200 people killed in Israel and more than 11,300 deaths in Gaza.
In a separate development, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League have chosen Nigeria as part of a special delegation tasked with initiating immediate international action to halt the conflict in Gaza.
