The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced that the $2.8 billion Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline project, currently being constructed by Oilserve Limited, is set to be inaugurated next month.
Oritsemiyiwa Eyesan, the Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Limited, disclosed this during the ongoing 41st Nigeria Association of Petroleum Explorationists 2023 expo in Lagos on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Management Session themed ‘Energy Infrastructure Development, Financing & Monetisation Strategies in Nigeria: Reducing the Risks of Entry,’ Eyesan emphasized the company’s commitment to Nigeria’s Gas Master Plan, stating that the project’s delivery in December underscores NNPC’s dedication to advancing the nation’s energy infrastructure.
“In the coming months, you are going to be seeing a great difference in the way we operate because NNPC is poised to drive in more investments into the oil and gas sector.
One of such huge investments is the AKK gas pipeline that will be commissioned this December,” she stated.
This announcement aligns with the commitment made by the Minister of State, Gas, Ekperikpe Ekpo, in October, during the Pai River crossing session in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Ekpo had pledged that the 614km Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project would be delivered by July next year.
The AKK pipeline, a significant infrastructure project, spans 614km and is designed to transport natural gas from southern Nigeria to central Nigeria.
Ekpo acknowledged that while investors expressed interest in the project, they sought an investment with immediate returns, and insecurity was a factor contributing to project delays.
