I slept on the floor in Phyno’s house before I became popular – Zoro

Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Owoh Chimaobi Chrismathner, popularly known as Zoro Swagbag, has opened up about the challenges he faced before hitting stardom, revealing that renowned rapper Phyno played a crucial role in his journey.

Zoro disclosed in the latest episode of the Zero Conditions podcast that he stayed at Phyno’s house, even sleeping on the floor in an empty room, before the breakthrough of his hit song ‘Ogene.’

During this period, Zoro shared how he managed to fund the music video for ‘Ogene’ by borrowing money, with additional support from Flavour.

He expressed gratitude for the assistance he received during those early days of his career.

Zoro recounted leaving Phyno’s house in 2016 due to an unfortunate incident where someone stole money belonging to the Penthauze Record label boss.

Despite the challenges, Zoro highlighted the impact of ‘Ogene,’ noting that it gained popularity first in the diaspora before capturing the attention of fans in Nigeria.
