Judge’s unavailability delays Naira Marley’s cybercrime trial

The trial of Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, charged with alleged cybercrime, faced a setback as the Federal High Court in Lagos could not convene due to the judge’s absence.

Justice Nicholas Owiebo, slated to preside over the trial, was reportedly attending a judges’ conference. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Fashola on cybercrime charges dating back to May 14, 2019.

The trial, which commenced earlier, has encountered delays, and the latest impediment is attributed to the judge’s conference.

Justice Owiebo had previously issued a production warrant for Fashola’s absence on October 6. The trial, now adjourned until November 13 and 30, continues its proceedings.
