Nigerian music stars Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, and more secure grammy nominations

Nigerian musical sensations, including Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Olamide, have secured nominations for the prestigious 66th Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning star, leads the pack with four nominations, while Davido, in his first Grammy appearance, secured three nominations.

The Nigerian quintet earned nominations in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category, alongside South Africa’s Tyla.

The category features Asake and Olamide’s ‘Amapiano,’ Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush,’ Davido and Musa Keys’ ‘Unavailable,’ and Tyla’s ‘Water.’

Beyond their collective nomination, Burna Boy scored additional nods in categories such as Best Melodic Rap, Best Global Music Album, and Best Global Music Performance.

Davido clinched nominations in the Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance categories.

Expressing his excitement, Davido took to social media, stating, “3 nominations at the Grammys!! Delay is not Denial!!” The much-anticipated 66th Grammy Awards ceremony is slated for February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
