Ogun pastor arrested for abduction and false prophecies

A pastor from a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in the Agbado area has been apprehended for allegedly making false prophecies and abducting a 21-year-old woman named Aliu Blessing.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, the victim had visited the church to care for her ailing sister when the pastor predicted that she would die on her wedding day unless she engaged in sexual relations with him.

The pastor was also accused of asserting that any man who attempted to have an intimate relationship with a woman other than himself would meet a dire fate.

As a result of the alleged deceit and prophecies, it was reported that the pastor kidnapped the lady on February 2, 2023, and took her to an undisclosed location, causing great distress and turmoil for her family.

After more than seven months of alleged abduction, the victim’s uncle, Aliu Yusuf, informed the police that Blessing, who returned home on November 5, 2023, recounted how the pastor had taken her to his family house in Ilaro and then to a hotel, where he was accused of having multiple and non-consensual sexual encounters with her.

Regarding the suspect’s arrest, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that the suspect had confessed to the crimes and would be prosecuted.

The police spokesperson also revealed that the victim had been sent to the hospital for a medical evaluation after displaying signs of a mental or possibly psychiatric issue.

“The suspect has been arrested, and he has since confessed to the crimes during interrogation.

He is currently in our custody and will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is completed.

The victim, on the other hand, had been taken to the hospital for medical examination after showing a psychological problem, or probably a psychiatric problem,” Odutola disclosed in a telephone interview on Tuesday.
