Terver Orfega, a 29-year-old man from Benue State, has tragically ended his life over the weight of a business loan he couldn’t repay.
Orfega was the Manager of Second Pot Restaurant in Wuse 2, Abuja, until his untimely death.
It was learned that he had obtained a loan to support his business venture. However, as he struggled to meet the loan repayment obligations, he spiraled into depression.
On October 31, 2023, Orfega was discovered lifeless in his hotel room in Garki after consuming a harmful substance believed to be the pesticide Sniper.

A close friend, Mercy Akwari, revealed that Orfega had confided in her about his battle with depression, although she didn’t fully grasp the gravity of his situation.
On November 4, 2023, Orfega was laid to rest in his hometown in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue. His friends and acquaintances have taken to social media to express their grief.
One Facebook post by Zaki Maaver extended support to Orfega’s elder brother, Richard Terver, who had done his utmost to help Orfega.
Maaver encouraged Richard not to blame himself, acknowledging the hardships he endured for his sibling.
The post also celebrated Richard as a remarkable sibling and expressed love and pride for his unwavering support.
