Court sends nurse and friend in Mohbad case back to custody

The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba made a significant decision on Monday concerning the case related to the controversial death of hip hop artiste Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.

A 37-year-old auxiliary nurse named Fisayo Ogedengbe, who had been arrested by the police in connection with the case, was remanded in custody.

The nurse was alleged to have administered injections to the late singer that led to his demise.

Additionally, the magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, ordered that Mohbad’s friend, Ayobani Sadiq, who was also detained as a suspect in the case, should remain in police custody.

However, the magistrate granted bail to two other individuals implicated in Mohbad’s death.

Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, were each granted bail in the sum of N20 million.

They had been taken into custody by the police on October 6 in connection with the case.

The magistrate specified the bail conditions, stating, “The defendants (Naira Marley and Sam Larry) are hereby granted bail in the sum of N20 million with three responsible sureties in like sum pending the legal advice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

One of the sureties must own a landed property. As part of the bail conditions, the defendants are to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department.”

Magistrate Olatunbosun issued a warning that no one should attempt to contact her directly regarding the case, as any such attempts would be documented and possibly disclosed in open court proceedings.

The police reported that the investigation into the case remains ongoing. Consequently, Magistrate Olatunbosun adjourned the case until November 29 for the Directorate of Public Prosecution’s legal advice.
