The Lagos State Police Command has officially confirmed the tragic demise of a 39-year-old woman named Lilian Nwarache.
She took her own life by ingesting a harmful insecticide last Friday in the Iwaya region of Lagos State.
The motivation behind her desperate act was reportedly the deep frustration she felt due to her prolonged battle with an illness.
Nwarache had been grappling with a chronic illness and had been seeking a remedy in a local church situated in Iwaya.

However, her condition had taken a severe toll on her mental and emotional well-being, leading her to consume an entire bottle of insecticide on the fateful day of November 3, 2023.
After ingesting the toxic substance, witnesses alleged that she attempted to jump into a nearby canal, but she was fortunately stopped by concerned passers-by.
They promptly rushed her to a nearby hospital, where a doctor confirmed her lifeless state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that three passports belonging to the deceased were discovered in her bag, along with her Samsung phone.
Hundeyin stated, “A distress call was made on Friday, around 2 pm, to the Sabo police station, reporting the tragic suicide of a 39-year-old woman whose identity and address were unknown.”
“She had been battling a prolonged illness and had sought solace in a local church through prayer and faith.”
“But overwhelmed by her suffering, she consumed a full bottle of a well-known brand of insecticide and attempted to take a drastic step by trying to jump into the canal.”
“Fortunately, quick intervention from concerned individuals prevented this, and she was immediately taken to the health center in Iwaya, where a medical professional on duty confirmed her lifeless condition.”
Hundeyin further mentioned that detectives were dispatched to the scene, gathering evidence that included photographs, the partially used insecticide container, her three passports, and a Samsung phone, all found within her small bag.
