Three blind men arrested for running drug trafficking syndicate

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended three visually impaired individuals who were involved in an illegal drug operation spanning from Lagos to Kano.

Femi Babafemi, the agency’s spokesperson, disclosed that another blind member of the syndicate is still evading capture.

The breakthrough in uncovering this group came after the arrest of a visually impaired individual named Adamu Hassan, aged 40, along the Gwagwalada expressway in Abuja.

He was found in possession of 12 kilograms of skunk on his journey from Lagos to Kano on October 28th.

However, investigations revealed that he was entirely unaware of the contents of the bag entrusted to him for delivery in Kano.

Subsequent operations led to the arrest of the ringleader of the syndicate, Bello Abubakar, aged 45, who is also visually impaired.

Bello, who has been residing in Lagos for three decades, confessed to engaging in the illegal drug trade for the past five years.

Another suspect, Muktar Abubakar, aged 59, who is likewise blind, has been a resident of Lagos for 40 years and is married to three wives with 14 children.

Both Muktar Abubakar and Bello Abubakar are co-owners of the illicit operation. The third suspect, Akilu Amadu, aged 25, who is also blind, contributes funds to the criminal enterprise.

He was responsible for delivering the consignment to Adamu at the motor park in Lagos for transportation to Kano.

Another blind individual, Mallam Aminu, who was intended to receive the consignment in Kano, is currently on the run.
