US issues warning to its citizens to avoid major hotels in Nigeria

The United States government has issued a warning to its citizens residing in Nigeria, advising them to steer clear of major hotels in the country, particularly in the larger cities.

This caution comes in response to the perception of heightened threats to these hotels.

The US government issued the warning through an emergency information notice for American citizens, which was dated November 3.

In the advisory, US citizens in Nigeria are urged to exercise vigilance when visiting major hotels, to remain alert to their surroundings, maintain a low profile, and review the travel advisory for Nigeria before making hotel reservations.

The notice emphasized, “The US Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.”

It also mentioned that Nigerian security agencies are actively working to counter this threat, aiming to enhance safety and security within the country.

The advisory included the contact information for the US embassy in Abuja and consulate in Lagos, providing US citizens with a means to seek assistance if needed.
