Emergency services were promptly dispatched in response to reports of a child trapped in the lift. Unfortunately, they were unable to save Sanad, and he tragically lost his life at the scene.

The boy’s parents, Hasan Shahriar, an engineering manager, and Dr. Yasmin Haque, a General Practitioner, are said to be deeply affected by the heartbreaking loss.

News of the incident was shared within the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) alumni Facebook group, expressing condolences and requesting prayers for the young Sanad, Hasan Shahriar, and Dr. Yasmin.

Both SafeWork NSW and NSW Police are conducting investigations to determine whether any fault existed with the 1970s-era lift in the school.

A spokeswoman for SafeWork NSW confirmed that they had been informed of a fatal incident at the school and that their investigation is ongoing.
