Police nab 16 suspected criminals for motorcycle theft, vandalism, phone snatching etc (police)

The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended 16 individuals suspected of various crimes, including motorcycle theft, human trafficking, vandalism, and phone theft.

These arrests were made in different locations throughout the state.

The State Police Spokesperson, DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam, announced this development in a statement issued on November 3, 2023.

The statement detailed the apprehension of the suspects and the crimes they were linked to.

Among those arrested were 40-year-old Muhammad Musa, who reported the theft of his red boxer motorcycle near Polaris Bank PLC Gumel branch.

The police swung into action and arrested two suspects, Auwalu Idris and Abubakar Lawan Ahmed, who were in possession of the stolen motorcycle in S/Tankarkar LGA.

In a separate incident, a man named Umar Yusuf was arrested for the suspected theft of a red Bajaj motorcycle at Gwaram Local Government Secretariat.

The rightful owner of the motorcycle was later identified as Aliyu Umar.

In another case, two individuals, Umar Muhd and Yusuf Nura, were caught vandalizing cable wires at the warehouse of Waccot Agro Company in Gumel LGA.

They revealed the involvement of other accomplices, Osi Tsitaka, Musa Habu, and one Depot, who are currently at large.

On October 29, 2023, Mubarak Balarabe Musa reported that his phone, an Infinix smart 6+ valued at ₦75,000, was stolen from his shop at Dayyubat Plaza in Kazaure LGA.

Detectives from the Kazaure Division later arrested three suspects, Yusuf Yahaya, Zurkifilu Abdulwahab, and Abba Abdullahi, who were found in possession of the stolen phone.

Lastly, a patrol team from K/Hausa Police station and members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) arrested Ahmad Suleiman, Auwalu Abdullahi, and Husaini Hassan Masgare, who were in possession of vandalized electric cables.

The suspects confessed to conspiring and vandalizing the cables.

The arrested individuals will face prosecution after the completion of a thorough investigation.
