Investigation bureau examines Ibadan crash, requests video evidence

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has issued a plea to the general public for their assistance in conducting a thorough and credible investigation into the recent air crash that occurred on Friday night at Ibadan Airport Runway 22, involving a private jet owned by Flint Aero.

This request was made in an official statement released on Saturday by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr. James Odaudu, and subsequently provided to reporters

The statement emphasized the need for public support, including video clips of the incident, relevant evidence, and any information that could contribute to a successful investigation of the accident.

It read, “As the investigating agency, NSIB needs and hereby seeks your assistance.

We want the public to know that we would be open to receiving any video clips, pertinent evidence, or information that any members of the public may possess regarding the accident; all of which can aid us in this investigation.”

The bureau also requested that the privacy of those involved in the crash be respected and urged the public and media not to make assumptions about the accident’s cause until an official report is released.

The statement further indicated, “The Bureau will appreciate that the general public and press respect the privacy of the people involved and NOT assume the cause of the serious incident until the formal report is released. The Bureau will release the preliminary report as soon as possible.”

NSIB confirmed that there were no fatalities, refuting any misinformation that might have circulated. The statement concluded with this clarification: “There was no fatality, as all passengers and crew were safely evacuated.”

The aircraft, carrying 10 passengers and 3 crew members, was en route from Abuja to Ibadan. It crashed just short of the runway during its final approach to landing on Runway 22 at Ibadan Airport.
