The governor also extended his gratitude to elder statesmen who played a pivotal role in addressing the crisis and restoring peace and stability in the state.

Fubara shared details about his visit to the Assembly complex on Monday, where he assessed the extent of the damage and initiated immediate measures to safeguard lives and property within the complex.

Reports had reached him on Sunday that the assembly chamber had suffered a fire incident, which was successfully extinguished by the fire service. Subsequently, security agencies took control of the situation.

Fubara explained, “I charged the security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and report to me.

Shortly after, I received reports that the assembly had split into two factions: one claimed to have impeached and suspended the House Leader and three others, as a prelude to initiating impeachment proceedings against me.

The other rival faction also asserted that they had impeached the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, sparking a political crisis.”

He emphasized his dedication to restoring peace and stability in the state, expressing his commitment to the progress, security, and well-being of the people.
