The Ogun State Government, led by Deputy Governor Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who also serves as the Chairman of the Ogun State Boundary Committee, has called on its Ondo State counterpart to address the issue of Ondo citizens encroaching on Ogun territory and launching attacks on residents of communities along the shared border.
The Deputy Governor expressed her concerns and appealed for a resolution in a statement issued in the state capital, Abeokuta.

Mrs. Salako-Oyedele highlighted the encroachment issue and the subsequent assaults on Ogun citizens, particularly those residing in the Irokun kingdom within Ogun-Waterside Local Government Area.
She strongly criticized the installation of Princess Adeyinka Abejoye Ogunyemi as a purported regent in the town, deeming it illegal and an act of impersonation.
The statement emphasized the existence of the Onirokun of Irokun as the traditional ruler of the kingdom in Ogun State. Ogun State’s Onirokun is HRH Oba Buari Olayinka Balogun, the 8th Onirokun, who ascended the throne in October 2007.
The Deputy Governor firmly asserted that Ogun would not tolerate criminal activities encroaching on its land and undermining the stability of Irokun.
Mrs. Salako-Oyedele noted that she had engaged in extensive discussions with her Ondo State counterpart to address the crisis.
Both states resolved to maintain the status quo and wrote to the National Boundary Commission, requesting the identification and demarcation of the disputed areas based on historical facts and data to bring an end to the crisis.

The Deputy Governor emphasized that Ogun State would not yield any portion of its land to Ondo due to the actions of criminals terrorizing Ogun residents on their own land.
The state government remains dedicated to preventing conflict between the two neighboring states, which have deep ethnic and historical connections and have consistently collaborated to address common concerns.
