Gov. Dauda Lawal expresses sympathy over abducted corps members

The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, expressed his condolences to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) regarding the abduction of prospective corps members in the state several months ago.

Governor Lawal conveyed his sentiments during a visit to the Director General of NYSC, Brig Gen Y.D. Ahmed, at NYSC Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

Governor Lawal described the kidnapping of these young graduates as a deeply regrettable incident.

He provided assurance that his office is actively collaborating with security agencies to secure the safe release of the abducted individuals.

Furthermore, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working tirelessly in coordination with all relevant security entities to enhance the safety of the state, ensuring the continued deployment of corps members.

In response, the Director General of NYSC expressed gratitude to Governor Lawal for standing in solidarity with the scheme during its challenging period.

He extended his appreciation to the Zamfara State government and its citizens for their unwavering support in efforts to secure the release of the abductees.

The Director General affirmed NYSC’s readiness to resume deploying corps members to the state once the security situation shows improvement.

It is worth noting that eight prospective corps members from Akwa-Ibom State were kidnapped in Zamfara State while en route to the orientation camp in Sokoto State.

Subsequently, NYSC, with the assistance of security agencies, successfully secured the release of two of the abducted individuals.
