The Nigerian Senate has granted its approval for the allocation of $7.8 billion and €100 million in President Bola Tinubu’s proposed 2022-2024 borrowing plan.
Tinubu had formally submitted a request to the Senate, urging swift consideration and endorsement of the borrowing plan to ensure the timely commencement of various projects.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on November 1, also made an announcement regarding Tinubu’s request for the confirmation of the nomination of ten Resident Electoral Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This confirmation process, in accordance with the provisions of Section 154(1) of the constitution, was initiated as the Senate began the screening of these nominees.
Following this procedure, the Senate proceeded to approve the appointment of seven of President Tinubu’s nominated Resident Electoral Commissioners.

The approved nominees include Mr. Etekamba Umoren representing Akwa Ibom, Mr. Isha Ehimeakne from Edo, Barrister Oluwatoyin Babalola for Ekiti, Mr. Abubakar Ahmed for Gombe, Shehu Wahab representing Kwara, Aminu Idris from Nasarawa, and Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq for Niger.
