Lionel Messi, who recently secured his eighth Ballon d’Or award, has shared his thoughts on the potential future winners of the prestigious accolade, marking a transition from his and Cristiano Ronaldo’s dominant hold on the award for the past 15 years.
The Inter Miami player set a new record by clinching his eighth Ballon d’Or in Paris, outshining rivals like Manchester City, Erling Haaland, and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe to claim the title.

When asked about his expectations for future Ballon d’Or winners, Messi revealed his belief in a new generation of talent.
He stated, “For a few years, we have seen players that can win it coming through. It could be hotly contested in the coming years with players like Haaland, Mbappé, and Vinicíus Junior.”
He went on to mention Lamine Yamal, a young talent who has already made a significant impact with Barcelona, as a potential contender.
