The Senate, on Tuesday, October 31, gave its approval for the appointment of Mr. Zak Adedeji as the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

During his screening at the upper chamber, Adedeji pledged to enhance the country’s revenue and take measures to eliminate most of the tax evasion issues in the oil and gas sector.

Additionally, Adedeji committed to streamlining Nigeria’s identification system and strengthening the nation’s capacity for data mining.

Prior to this appointment, the former FIRS Chairman, Muhammad Nami, was instructed by Tinubu to take a three-month pre-retirement leave.
