The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Kaduna State has taken a resolute stand to eliminate fake doctors and quacks from the medical profession within the state.
Dr. Madaki David Sheyin, the State NMA Chairman, made this declaration during a press conference held at their secretariat to commemorate the 2023 ‘Physicians Week.’
Dr. Sheyin emphasized that the NMA would vigorously combat fraudulent medical practitioners and unqualified individuals, warning them to refrain from entering the medical field.

He pledged to deny them any leeway to practice or escape legal consequences, and he appealed to the government to address the health sector’s challenges, which have also adversely affected the NMA.
The theme for the medical week is “Elevating Health Care Excellence: Fighting Medical Quackery and Reinforcing Professional Standards.”
In light of this, the NMA has resolved to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to eradicate all forms of medical quackery in the state.
Dr. Sheyin stressed that the association would not hesitate to hold its members accountable and continuously encourage them to maintain the highest professional standards, supporting the NMA’s mission to eradicate quackery.
The NMA has initiated an extensive awareness campaign and awareness-raising efforts to combat quackery in the state.

Dr. Sheyin also expressed concern about the media’s trial of Nigerian doctors and requested that the rule of law be upheld when addressing grievances or fulfilling their professional duties.
Dr. Sheyin also addressed the role of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), explaining that if anyone has concerns about a doctor practicing in Nigeria, they should address them to the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), the body officially responsible for handling such issues.
