Bode George expresses concern over ‘Despicable’ events unfolding in Rivers

Bode George, a prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has voiced his deep concern regarding the ongoing crisis within the Rivers State House of Assembly, deeming it as highly distressing.

This unsettling situation unfolded on Monday when an endeavor to impeach Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State took place.

Concurrently, the leader of the House was deposed from office, resulting in the emergence of a factional speaker.

In response to this crisis, Bode George has emphasized the necessity for senior party members to intervene promptly and restore order.

His call for intervention comes amid fears that the situation in the PDP-controlled oil-rich state of Rivers may escalate further.

George stated during an interview on the Monday edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today, “What I will tell all sides is that, like I said, we need elders in the room who would call everybody to order.

What is happening in Rivers is despicable. It is heart-wrenching, and I am very unhappy because Rivers is almost a one-party state.”

He continued, “And for such a thing to be happening at this particular time, it’s bothering me, and the party must immediately get involved.

The elections are over, the tribunal and electoral process are also over, and now let’s come and rebuild the party.”

George stressed the importance of addressing internal conflicts and mending fractured relationships to ensure the PDP’s unity and strength for the future.

He concluded, “All those broken areas must be patched up so that we can remain the indivisible and undefeatable party for the future. I am very saddened by what is going on in Rivers State.”
