The Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the Labour Party extended its congratulations to President Bola Tinubu on his Supreme Court victory.
In the wake of the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the appeals filed by the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his Peoples Democratic Party counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, the LP faction expressed its support for Tinubu’s well-deserved win.

The Spokesman for the LP faction, Abayomi Arabambi, issued a statement in Abuja on Saturday, commending the independence of the judiciary and emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation in the government.
Arabambi conveyed, “We hope that the President will be magnanimous in victory by inviting the Labour Party leadership as a partner in the progress of his all-inclusive government of national unity.”

While praising Atiku for his strong effort despite the court’s decision, the faction characterized him as a veteran and a notable figure in Nigeria.
They extended their congratulations to him and recognized his significance in the nation’s democratic landscape.
However, the LP faction was less charitable towards their own candidate, Peter Obi, deeming him one of the worst candidates the party had ever fielded.
Arabambi emphasized the Supreme Court’s swift dismissal of Obi’s grounds of appeal, stating that they took no longer than two minutes.

He highlighted that Obi’s case predominantly relied on the failure to electronically transmit results directly from polling units.
Yunusa Tanko, spokesman for the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, responded by acknowledging the LP faction’s right to express their support and congratulatory messages as they saw fit.
On the other hand, the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, chose not to acknowledge the faction, referring to them as renegades and indicating that they would not engage with them.
