Iyalode of yorubaland, Alaba Lawson is dead

Nigerian businesswoman and educator, Chief Alaba Lawson, who also served as the former National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, has passed away.

Chief Lawson, the founder of the well-known Alaba Lawson Group of Schools in Abeokuta, died in the early hours of Saturday.

The news of her passing was conveyed through a statement issued by AbdulRahman Maku, the Executive Secretary of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

Chief Alaba Lawson, born on January 18, 1951, was renowned as a business magnate, entrepreneur, academician, and a dedicated advocate for women’s advancement and empowerment.

She held the esteemed position of Iyalode of Egbaland and was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ABEOCCIMA until her demise.
