Supreme court rejects Atiku’s bid to remove Tinubu using double-barrel approach

The Supreme Court has dismissed the attempt by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to unseat President Bola Tinubu from office.

In a ruling delivered by Justice Okoro, Atiku’s approach to remove Tinubu from power was described as a “double-barrel” strategy.

This legal action stemmed from a petition by Atiku concerning the results collation process during the previous presidential election.

Justice Okoro asserted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) IREev system did not serve as a collation system.

He emphasized that INEC’s primary function was to conduct elections at polling units, and the interruption of the portal did not impede the overall collation process.
