In a covert military operation aimed at countering terrorist activities in Sokoto State, the troops of 8 Division Garrison executed a well-planned offensive maneuver targeting a notorious group of terrorists responsible for numerous heinous activities in the region.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, revealed in an official statement that the operation was carried out on October 24, 2023.

During the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists with a determined and fierce assault, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists, while others sustained gunshot wounds and fled the scene.

In subsequent mop-up operations, the troops successfully recovered significant weapons and equipment, including three AK-47 rifles, one PKT gun, 125 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, 2 rocket-propelled gun bombs, and 9 motorcycles.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, commended the troops for their dedication and urged them to maintain their resolve in intensifying operations against the terrorists to diminish their capabilities and restrict their freedom of action.
