Base jumper dies after losing control of parachute in Turkey

Dilip Marcus Sundhod, aged 47, lost his life in a devastating accident during a base jump in Turkey, where he lost control of his parachute and crashed into the side of a cliff.

This unfortunate incident occurred while he was participating in the International Air Games Festival with friends.

Despite deploying his parachute, Sundhod couldn’t maintain control and collided with the cliffside within Butterfly Valley. Upon receiving word of the tragic crash from his companions, emergency services swiftly mobilized to provide assistance.

It took rescue personnel approximately an hour to reach the location where Sundhod had landed, at which point they regrettably confirmed his passing at the scene.

It appears that Sundhod’s jump was a distinct free fall, separated from the festival’s organized activities.

Authorities are now launching an investigation to determine the legality of the stunt and whether all necessary safety precautions were followed in this high-risk sport.

A spokesperson from the Foreign Office stated, “We have been made aware of the unfortunate passing of a British man in Turkey and are in contact with the local authorities.

Although we have not received a request for consular assistance, our staff remain available to aid British nationals abroad 24/7.”
