The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) is set to arraign 14 of its personnel before a disciplinary panel for alleged extortion and misconduct.
According to the statement issued by Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, the General Manager of LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, revealed that these officers would be presented before the Personnel Management Board Discipline, which will adjudicate their cases according to the Public Service Rules.
Mr. Oreagba stated that these 14 officers, consisting of 11 senior and 3 junior personnel, were apprehended at various locations within the state while soliciting money from motorists.

The General Manager emphasized that LASTMA is committed to taking stern action against officers involved in malpractice to preserve the agency’s integrity.
He urged residents and the motoring public to report any errant officers to LASTMA’s nearest offices or use the agency’s dedicated complaints hotlines.
While acknowledging the dedication, diligence, and professionalism of LASTMA officials, Mr. Oreagba cautioned the public against attempting to bribe traffic personnel, as both the giver and receiver of bribes would face legal consequences.
