Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has requested the Supreme Court to consider new documents in the case involving President Bola Tinubu.
At a hearing in court, Atiku’s lead counsel, Chris Uche, SAN, emphasized the significance of the matter, describing it as a serious and constitutional issue.
Uche urged the court to accept their application and grant their request, emphasizing that the matter of Tinubu’s academic records is substantial and should be admitted by the Supreme Court.
However, the lawyer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Abubakar Mahmoud, argued that Atiku’s application to introduce Tinubu’s academic records should be dismissed.

Tinubu’s lead counsel, Wole Olanipekun, SAN, contended that INEC should have been involved in the deposition proceedings that took place in the United States.
He also pointed out that the depositions from CSU (Cleveland State University) should remain inactive until the deponent testifies in court.
Olanipekun maintained that Atiku cannot request fresh evidence at the Supreme Court.
