During a solidarity visit to Israel, United States President Joe Biden expressed his support for Israel’s account of the devastating hospital strike in Gaza.
He stated that based on the information he had seen, it appeared that the strike was caused by Palestinian militants, not Israel.
The explosion, according to health authorities in Hamas-ruled Gaza, resulted in the deaths of between 200 and 300 people and was attributed to a misfired rocket from Islamic Jihad.
The Israeli military blamed Palestinian militants for the incident.
President Biden also acknowledged that there were differing opinions on the matter, but he emphasized the need to address the situation.
He expressed his condolences and called for assistance to innocent Palestinians caught in the conflict, highlighting that Hamas does not represent all Palestinian people and has brought suffering to them.

Additionally, Biden mentioned that Israel had agreed to collaborate with the United States on a plan to allow aid into Gaza, which has been under siege and bombardment for 12 days and subject to an Israeli blockade for 16 years.
The situation has led to the threat of a ground invasion by Israel.
The U.S. President praised the courage and commitment of the Israeli people and was welcomed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who called for global unity against Hamas, comparing it to the fight against previous threats like the Nazis and ISIS.
Netanyahu also expressed his gratitude for Biden’s visit during a time of conflict, emphasizing the strong bond between the United States and Israel.
